We have somewhat finalized the game name, plot and a few things concerning the ships and players.
The name is now 'Supernova' as suggested by Adam. This title sparked ideas for a concept around this, which turned out to be a few background stories.
Game Plot Development:
The first of these was; "An evil alien race uses a weapon to destroy the sun of a system, which sparks a galactic war."
The second, a slight variation; "Using Supernova, an ultimate weapon. An alien race destroys the star of a system, which fuels a war over the possession of it's technology."
The final and current background is; "In a desperate endeavor to save their system, an advanced race failed to re-ignite their sun, destroying it along with them. Using this to their advantage, the Warmongering races conceived a plot, blaming a neighboring race which they disliked. This began a war, and two factions formed together."
Ships:
Ship hulls will be relative to the races and their factions. Races of opposing factions will not be able to obtain ships other than their own, or neutral factions.
Interchangeable parts such as boosters, thrusters, guns, shield generators; will be separate mesh. While internal parts such as engines will be unseen and strictly a statistical change within the game.

If the multimedia students do not want to bother I will create images (most likely models in max, rendered). For the parts that will not be seen, as we still need them for inventory and the ship workshop.
